The Publishing Process

Manuscript Submission
If you choose to have us publish your work, then the first step after your free evaluation is to submit the entire manuscript. The manuscript may be either in hard copy double spaced, or on a computer disc. We prefer MS Word program in a P.C. platform, but all are acceptable. We do not accept E-mail submissions nor any attachments to E-mail correspondence.

Notice of Receipt
We acknowledge, by telephone, the receipt of your entire manuscript within ten days. If you do not hear from us within that period, please call. It could have been delayed in the mail.

Manuscript Discussion
After reading your entire manuscript, we will contact you by telephone to discuss what it will cost to publish your book, what we will require of you, what our responsibilities will be, the marketing prospects and any other topic you may wish to discuss.

The Contract
When we come to an agreement on choices, we will discuss the publishing contract. We will send two detailed copies of the contract, written in plain terms, for your approval. One copy you will need to sign and return to us. The other you should keep in a safe place.

Galley Proof
After typesetting your manuscript, we send you a copy of the typeset work for your final approval. This is the Galley Proof. When you receive this copy, you should make any final corrections you feel are necessary, and return the copy to us.

Printing/Binding/Delivery
When we receive the signed 'Approved for Printing' copy from you, the work is ready to go to printing. Depending on its size, the book can be either Perfect Bound (paperback), or Saddle Stitched (inside stapled). We ship the agreed upon number of copies to you. We will retain some copies for registration and sales, if you have opted for these services.

Other Considerations

Editing
We protect the integrity of your work. Our editing covers the mechanical errors of spelling, punctuation, and capitalization. It might be necessary to correct some grammar, in which case the changes will be subject to your approval. We can do complete editing, and even rewriting, if you choose to have us do so.

Book Design
Book design involves choice of font (size and style of text), binding method and overall size of the book. If you prefer a non standard book size or font, we will work with you on your choices.

You may have illustrations, photographs, or charts to include in your book. These should be sent with the manuscript, no larger than 11" x 17", or on disc. We also have an Art Department to assist you in creating images for your work.

Cover Design
The cover design is very important, for it gives the first impression of the author and the work. You can rely on our Art Department to design your book cover, or you can submit your own design. In either case, we will require your approval of the final copy before printing. Please note, we cannot accept photo submissions larger than 11" x 17" in overall size.

Privacy of Your Material
From time to time, potential clients make inquiries about other works we have published, and request we forward copies of those books to them. We do not engage in the practice of giving away your completed book without your prior approval. It is your product, not ours. However, we do retain the right to submit excerpts for promotional use.

Copyright
The published book is filed with the Federal Register of Copyrights of the Library of Congress in your name. We also obtain the ISBN and bar code for your work.
